ABOUT THE ARTIST

My name is Fred Andrews IV, and I was born and raised in Atlanta Georgia. I've been drawing ever since I had the mind blowing revelation as a child that crayons were for coloring and not just eating. By the time I was at SCAD studying animation in Savannah, my inquisitive nature and hunger for mind blowing revelations had lead me to a point where I found myself living like Neo at the beginning of the Matrix asleep at his computer. It got to the point where I spent more time "searching for Truth" than I did doing homework. To the detriment of everything I thought I knew, the revelations started presenting themselves. I consider this period to have been one of the most important of my life. During that time I was exposed to figures like Plato, Da Vinci, Alan Watts, Terrence McKenna, Joseph Campbell and Alex Grey after having been raised on Jesus, Dr. King, Malcolm X, and Maya Angelou. The world became bigger, and truth became ineffable. Since that time, much of my work has centered around the themes of spirituality, futurism, and nature. At the deepest levels, I'm still trying to make statements about the ineffable with symbolism, but on the surface, I am simply compelled to distill beauty out of a series of mistakes refined into art. I draw with the desire to provoke questions about life, love and the universe in the hope that it might spark my favorite types of conversations, and to add a little beauty to the world while I'm here.
